Deidre discussed the basics of printmaking with particular emphasis on making prints at home without the large equipment. She also showed samples of her artwork that have a botanical theme.

Guest Speaker – Anne Armitage
“Working with coloured pencils” She gave a presentation
on coloured pencils. She talked about
the different coloured pencil manufacturers and the distinct qualities of each;
how you can apply watercolour on top of coloured pencil, and suggested books
and paper.

to 'a walk by the water'. It provides an opportunity for
reflection and the need to get off the grid. No cell phone, no computer, and no
electronics: achieving the state of flow where time and surrounding converge to
a state of contemplation. A simple walk
by the water is all that is needed.

the different aspects to the blog (e.g. inserting pictures, internet links and

“The Wonder of Spring!” -
Isabelle's lively slide show presentation and lecture covered early spring
flowers, their role for insects just starting to be active as well as the
return of wildlife to the garden - birds, insects, and small mammals.

“Natural History” -
Many of us know Isabelle from her role as Volunteer Coordinator of the
Backyard Garden at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden. She has a great talent
for teaching and a wide knowledge of native wildflowers. Isabelle is a
recipient of the Mary Stuart Education Award for outstanding achievements in
the field of natural history education in the Ottawa region.
